Julia Gillard: How Can We Increase Education Funding and Improve Learning?

Julia Gillard, former prime minister of Australia and currently a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, sat down with her colleagues at the Center for Universal Education to discuss trends and opportunities in global education.

At the Center for Universal Education, Julia's focus will be on the quality of education around the world and how we measure it, i.e. learning metrics, building on what she did with her school in Australia. Gillard will also work on financing models and innovation in finance, since we know that there is not enough money and the gap is in the billions of dollars we risk of going backwards not forward. Finally, as former female leader, Gillard wants to focus on education of girls and what that means for women's leadership.
