Code 3 is a movie where Dwight Schrute plays a burnt-out paramedic.
But hold on!
It's not what it seems.
Code 3 is an alternate universe where Dwight Schrute, the assistant to the manager of a small-town paper company is placed in the role of a EMS worker.
And it's not the kind of world where jokes are made and Michael Scott can get away with saying whatever he wants.
Look, the poster is extremely misleading for this movie.
I don't know why, but they're trying to sell it like it's another Ride Along movie, but Code 3 cannot be any further from that type of movie.
Here's a couple of replacement posters I made that I thought better represents the movie that's being sold.
And the trailer, forget about it!
I saw the clips they were playing on the IMDB page for this movie, and they're wildly out of context, trying to market this movie as the kind of movie you have on in the background while you hang out with your friends.
Code 3 is gritty, it's brutal, and - not speaking as someone who is plugged in to the medical service world - I assume it's painfully realistic.
There is humor in this film, don't get me wrong.
But it's the kind of humor that you know runs rampant in the world of first responders.
Some of the stuff they see is so horrible that joking about it is the sanest way to cope, and so when I say Code 3 has dark humor, that's where it comes from.
This movie also kept reminding me of Training Day, because we're following the life and day of a 2 EMS workers training the young rookie, and they do things that keep you guessing, IS Dwight Schrute the paramedic someone the newbie should trust?
And this movie preaches at you.
Over and over again it shows you all the different ways EMS workers are mistreated - by the hospitals, the doctors, their patients, and even passersby who don't move switch lanes so as not to hit the first responders at the scene of an accident.
So it preaches at you with a worthy message - that there are people putting their lives on the line for basically minimum wage and shitty hours, and almost no support from their superiors.
If not for this series where I'm watching 100 movies from 2025, I NEVER would have gone near this movie.
(Poster with UGGH)
But I am absolutely surprised to say that Code 3, this completely inconspicuous movie out of nowhere, is a Master Beanlighter of a movie.
Yes, I think Code 3 is one of the best movies of 2025, and I honestly wouldn't mind getting more movies like this.
