On a recent weekend camping trip with my kids, we ran into a problem I didn’t expect — we completely ran out of Starlink internet halfway through the trip.
Between YouTube on my son’s device and my phone quietly uploading camping footage to iCloud in the background, we burned through the entire 50GB Starlink Roam data allowance in just two days. By the last day of the trip, we had no internet unless we paid extra per GB.
That experience made the recent Starlink Roam update especially meaningful for us.
Starlink has now doubled the Roam data allowance to 100GB for the same $50, and even more importantly, once you use it up, you’re no longer cut off. Instead, you automatically drop to slower standby speeds — which is a huge improvement for weekend and long-weekend campers.
