Session 3 following discourse analysis exegetes the Discourse Introduction (DI) found in Hebrews 1:1-4. As in most sermons, the DI introduces the speakers subject and predicate that God speaks. He outlines two topics that he covers in his exposition to follow. Further, the speaker for his message to follow provides a probable Greek chiastic outline for a polemic that forms his initial claims before moving to his conclusion about the purpose for the ministry of Christ. Rather than a proof text for Christ as creator in the Genesis creation, the emphasis is on the ability created by the two-fold ministry of Christ. Audience questions raise the author's purpose to say more than who God is toward what God is able through Christ to do in bringing people to himself by the ministry of Christ.
