King Charles III will have his coronation on 6th May 2023. The last coronation took place over 70 years ago, so this will be the first chance for most to witness an event that has remained unchanged for more than a millennium! This short video will tell kids what happens during the ceremony and what will happen over the weekend.
On 6th May, King Charles will go on a procession through London to Westminster Abbey where he will be presented to the crowd by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He will swear to serve the British people, and uphold the law of the law and the church. A crown will be placed on his head and people will shout 'God save the King!'
