This shockingly-delicious apple crisp comes from The Betty Crocker Picture Cookbook that was published in 1950. The dessert bares little resemblance to modern crisps made with brown sugar and rolled oats. Please give it a try and then report back. Apple Crisp
Ingredients for a 10x6x2-inch baking dish
4 cups sliced apples (approx. 4 large apples; I used 'Gala' here)
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup sifted flour (I did not sift my flour)
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
Bake at 350°F until the top browns and crisps -- about 40 minutes
