2 years after WKRP Morning drive DJ'ing, Dr Johnny Fever, went on to be an IHP teacher in New York City. Meaning Howard Hesseman had another 4 years stint, in comedy. But this time in a more sophisticated, intelligent, but still laid back and comedic role as Mr. Charlie Moore. The High School teacher at Millard Filmore High. For the IHP students, or Individualized Honors Program. With several gifted student who had their own personalities. Charlie had his own as well, being an unconventional teacher, just like he was an unconventional character on WKRP in Cincinnati. But not in the same way of course. Mr. Moore taught students lessons in life while teaching lessons in school.

Eventually after 4 seasons, Howard decided to step out because he didn't see eye to eye with the writers. They wanted to lean more towards comedy, while he wanted to stick to the lesson teaching combined with comedy. So they role went to Billy Connolly, and the show was cancelled after the next season. Showing that Howard was the key to the show.
