A quiet, 16‑minute spinning session from mixed fleece to soft 2‑ply yarn – no talking, just the gentle sounds of wool and wheel.
I start with a blend of white, grey and a little lavender wool, with a touch of white silk, but by the second blending I added also some pink.
If you are unfamiliar with making yarn from fleece, here is what I do: first I mix the fibers at the blending board, then I roll the rolags, I draft them (it makes the spinning process easier later) and eventually I spin it. First I spin the single yarn with quite a lot of twist and then I ply it in a 2-ply yarn. This helps making the yarn more resistent and more balanced.
This video is the silent full process, ASMR, no talking, an old‑world rhythm of work and wool.
To be fair? I set out to make a very boring, practical yarn (the kind that makes the best knits). Then I added colour… and ended up with a yarn that’s neither truly plain nor truly showy. I’m not in love with it as a skein, but I still enjoyed the quiet spinning, so here it is to keep you company.
