The Sawara Festival in Chiba dates back to the late 1600s, when local merchants and townspeople began parading beautifully crafted floats to honor the Sawara Shrine’s deities. Over time it grew into one of the region’s major festivals, known for its Edo-period dolls, lively music, and the proud history of a prosperous merchant town.
The best part is if you go on the first day of the festival. A weekday on Friday you will not have to figt through any crowds!
