Описание: In this video, what is Line Regulation and Load Regulation in Power Supply and their different way of representation is explained with examples.

Line Regulation and Load Regulation are two important parameters for Power Supplies and Voltage regulators. It shows that how well the Voltage Regulator or Power Supply is able to maintain constant output voltage despite the change in the line voltage or load current.

What is Line Regulation:

The Line Regulation defines the ability of the Power Supply or Voltage Regulator to maintain the constant output voltage despite the change in the line voltage / input voltage.

Line Regulation = ΔVo/ΔVi

It is typically represented in mV/V, %/V and %.

Line Regulation (in %/V) =( ΔVo / Vnominal)x 100 / ΔVi

For voltage regulators and LDO (Low Dropout Voltage Regulator) the line regulation is represented in %/V or mV/V.

What is Load Regulation:

The Load Regulation defines the ability of the Power Supply or Voltage Regulator to maintain the constant output voltage despite the change in the load current.

Load Regulation(in %) = (Vno-load - Vfull-load) x 100 / Vfull-load

The load regulation is typically defined in percentage. But many times for LDOs and voltage regulators it is also defined in mV/mA. When it is represented in mV/mA, it also represents the dynamic output resistance of the voltage regulator.
