Master the Erne with Footwork! 👟
Ready to add the most electrifying shot in pickleball to your arsenal? In our latest lesson, Coach @ScottFliegelmanPickleball breaks down the footwork required to pull off a clinical Erne, featuring BP standout, Traci Hoops.
The secret isn’t just jumping—it’s the deliberate setup and the dance steps that follow. Scott walks Traci through the three-step progression:
1️⃣ The Neutral Dink: Stay patient and wait for your opening.
2️⃣ The Setup Dink: Hit a wide, angled dink that "stresses" your opponent and forces them to look away from you, ideally turning their head and body toward the side court. Note this setup dink may often come from your partner!
3️⃣ The Staging: Move to the corner and straddle the kitchen and sideline intersection, then get ready to pounce.
🔑 The Key Move: Scott emphasizes "taking a big bite out of the corner." By stepping through with your inside leg, you create a simple and repeatable movement pattern for sliding along the sideline, allowing for a surprise attack toward your opponent's feet!
Stop wishing you could hit an Erne and start drilling the footwork to make it happen.
