Alpha blockers are drugs that competitively or irreversibly block the alpha receptors, alpha receptors are of two types 1 and 2; alpha 1 receptors are found in the vessels walls, iris dilator muscle, prostate, urethral sphincter, pylorus, and anal sphincter and their activation lead to contraction of smooth muscles; alpha 2 receptors are found in the sympathetic post ganglionic pre synaptic nerve terminals and their activation inhibit the release of norepinephrine...
