“I like to get the kids excited about science,” says Margaret Browne, science teacher at Falcon Middle School. “I don’t want it to be a mystery to them. I want them to know the basic concepts but I want them to be able to love the science, and be excited about what they are learning.”
Born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado, Browne graduated from El Paso Community College in Colorado Springs, now known as Pikes Peak Community College, with an associate’s degree in dental assisting. She worked as a dental assistant before earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and then a master’s degree in science teaching at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
During her 12th year teaching, Browne joined District 49 students in 2005 She worked with students at Meridian Ranch Elementary School for two years, before joining the staff at Falcon Middle School in 2007. In 2016, Browne earned the middle school’s teacher of the year distinction.
During her free time, Browne enjoys studying paleontology and archaeology, along with watching birds in their natural habitats, and hiking.
