The SSPDF spokesman, Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, held a press briefing at GHQs-Bilpam, announcing that NGOs previously ordered to leave Akobo can resume their duties as the SSPDF takes full control of the town. This follows an earlier directive for NGOs and UNMISS personnel to evacuate Akobo, Nyirol, and Uror counties ahead of Operation Enduring Peace against the SPLA-IO.
The order for NGOs to leave was given to ensure civilian safety, with a 48-72 hour ultimatum to evacuate. Now, with SSPDF in control, operations can reportedly resume. The situation in Jonglei State remains safe and suitable for normal duties.
