“The training was a success. It allowed us to learn about working together, right from the planning stage. What everyone saw happening in a short period of time went through planning from different branches and different countries. When the planning is good, everything goes according to plan. Today's operation went smoothly and successfully achieved the planned objectives.”

17. SOUNDBITE (Thai) Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont, Commander of the First Naval Area Command of the Royal Thai Navy:
“I believe that for the Royal Thai Navy and the Royal Thai Armed Forces, we already have capabilities in terms of equipment, personnel and tactics. Training with foreign countries allows us to learn what can be applied. We have to understand that technologies and equipment might differ, but if we can adapt and apply them, it will be beneficial.”

STORYLINE:
Thailand, the U.S., South Korea and Singapore jointly conducted intensive amphibious operations training under the framework of the Cobra Gold 2026 joint exercise.
The drills took place at the Royal Thai Navy Training Field in Sattahip, Chonburi, Thailand, on Thursday.
Cobra Gold is one of the longest-running multinational exercises in Southeast Asia, and this year involves over 8,000 personnel from 30 countries.
Vice Admiral Arpa Chapanont, a commander in the Thai Royal Navy, called the exercise "a success."
