That's how I felt the first time I pulled the trigger on my .458 SOCOM. Again, a stark contrast after shooting a 5.56 AR. It definitely is ridiculous. That said, it does more than wear out your shoulder. In this video, we explore the benefits and drawbacks to the .458. If you already have an AR-15, all you need is an .458 upper. It may be a caliber that deserves a closer look.
