Today we look at how to thin out apples and grow a bigger apple crop. Growing. bigger and better apples starts with thinning the apples out in early summer. We allow the June drop to reduce the number of apples on a tree naturally then we look at how to thin out the apples to allow the apple crop to grow bigger.
We thin out the small, miss shaped or damaged apples and aim to allow 2 apples to grow in each bunch. some apples will drop naturally in June so make sure that they have all fallen and are not being propped up by the bunch. We then thin the apples by hand or use a tool to prune them off.
