The SOA recently announced a new program that will change how aspiring actuaries like YOU can earn credit for some preliminary exams.
This new program is called the University-Earned Credit (UEC) program and it will allow students to earn credit for certain SOA exams by meeting course and exam requirements (more details in the article linked below).
Additionally, in order to receive the credit, students must attend one of the participating universities that qualify as Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) (see the list linked below).
In this video, you're going to learn how this will all work (based on the information available to me) and what this will mean for anyone pursuing the actuarial career. I will also share my personal thoughts on the new program and why I'm not happy about these changes.

CLARIFICATIONS FROM THE SOA:
Since posting this video, I was able to connect with a member from the SOA who provided me with information that could better clarify the UEC program.
1:00 – All UEC-approved courses will begin at any approved CAE universities in the fall of 2022
1:45 – The UEC program has actually been in Canada since 2012
2:15 – In addition to CAE schools in the US, Canada, Australia, China, there are also CAE schools in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
2:45 – The UEC application for CAEs will be available this summer. The program will not be available to students for credit at approved CAEs until fall of 2022. CAEs are part of a long-established program and will have to apply and qualify for the UEC.
3:10 – The SOA has set a two course maximum for the UEC.
6:30 – You do not have to be an actuarial science major to receive the UEC. Students can be enrolled in any degree program at the university.
7:30 – A quick note: P, FM, and IFM are not jointly offered by the SOA and CAS. They are SOA exams and the CAS chooses to recognize them for use in their requirements.
