"Alekhina committed a grave crime on 21 February, while having a little child. Having a child did not prevent her from committing a crime. "According to the articles 398 and 399 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, the court decided to reject the appeal by the lawyer for the sentenced (Maria) Alekhina to suspend the sentence according to the judgement delivered by the Moscow district Khamovniki city court on August 17, 2012, until her child Demidov Philipp Nikitievich, born on May 27, 2007 turns 14 years old."

"The judge in her verdict didn't say anything about the penalties made by the prison officials. So, that's why it is not clear why she (Judge Yefremova) turned it down (the request). But in general, the verdict is as it was expected."

PUSSY RIOT MEMBER LOSES APPEAL
A Russian court on Wednesday (16 JAN) turned down an attempt by an imprisoned Pussy Riot band member to defer serving her sentence for hooliganism until her preschool son becomes a teenager.
She argued that separation from her young child now would do irreparable psychological damage to him.
