Today I’m reacting to a video titled “What Other Countries Are Told Is American?” and apparently the answer is: a LOT of very questionable food choices.

From “American” supermarket sections in Europe to KFC being a Christmas tradition in Japan, hot dogs on pizza, corn on pizza, American-style sauces, breakfasts that make zero sense, and foods that Americans apparently don’t even eat — this video dives into how American culture is exoticized, stereotyped, and rebranded around the world.

As a European reacting to this, I share my honest thoughts, cultural confusion, and personal experiences with “American-style” food in Finland, Spain, and beyond. We talk about fauxthenticity, stereotypes, marketing myths, and how both Americans and non-Americans misunderstand each other’s food culture.

Some of this is hilarious, some of it is genuinely fascinating, and some of it made me very hungry.
