Maximum firepower is the best advice I can give for this mission. Having a fast Heavy Mech, preferably a clan one rush the control towers as soon as possible is a key strategy. I fall a little bit behind the Atlas as I escort it through the base but it does a fine job on its own; don't count on that however.
Ballistic weaponry is a good idea as the mission is short but brutal; with nothing opposing you over 60 tons baring the tracked vehicles, and they'll go down quickly enough. Speed of damage is more important than longevity, and gauss cannons and heavy ACs will core mechs quickly enough that you won't have to worry about running out of ammo.
Due to the speed of completion, and number of enemy clan mechs, this is a good mission to gather some salvage, if you don't mind replaying it to get a good result. The results pictured here are a good example.
