Solar Power and Community Energizes Urban Living for Heather and Justin

Описание: Heather and Justin looked at a lot of homes before landing on their solar-powered, energy efficient home in Blatchford, the largest planned carbon neutral community in North America.
In part 2 of our series on Blatchford we meet up with the couple at their home on Yorke Mews in Blatchford an innovative green community. Yorke Mews is a pedestrian only street which is a newer idea in these parts, but many of the residents we spoke to love this.
"What we love about Blatchford is that all of the homes here are heated with renewable energy," says Heather MacKenzie of the district geoexchange energy sharing system that draws heat from the Earth beneath a small lake in this downtown neighbhourhood.
Turns out there are a lot of reasons Heather and Justin love living here. Their home was solar-ready and is now solar powered and they love living close to downtown in a fairly dense neighbourhood that ironically has plenty of green space, walking trails, a playground and even a community garden.
Blatchford represents a new kind of people-centred urban planning that combines the latest in sustainability features with a place that is nice to live in.
We talk to Heather and Justin about what drew them to Blatchford, and what they like about it after living there for a few years.
