Fairburn Agate Beds & Wildlife Loop Scenic Drive - Black Hills | South Dakota

Описание: Today is the day everyone - our final adventure in South Dakota! I would personally like to thank each and every one of you for watching this multi-part travel guide to a highly underrated part of the country. In today’s journey we will begin with a short rockhounding adventure to the Fairburn Agate Beds which are located near the town of Fairburn, SD. This unique destination is near the French Creek Campground and has become popularized over the years for its unique geological specimens, gemstones and the most notable - “Fairburn Agates”. Sit back and enjoy today’s tranquil endeavor.

Our second stop for the day was at Buffalo Gap National Grassland which offered pristine views of wildlife in their natural habitat.

The Wildlife Loop Scenic Drive takes visitors on an over 18 mile journey through the Black Hills with plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities.

My father and I briefly stopped at Wind Cave National Park which is directly off of the Wildlife Loop Rd. Unfortunately we were unable to join a cave tour for the day since they were all booked, but the Visitor’s Center itself was worth checking out. The cave stretches hundreds of miles and features other-worldly geological formations similar to Jewel Cave.

After finishing up our tour on the Wildlife Loop Rd my father and I decided to revisit the famous “Needles Eye Tunnel” one final time and pass through the rocky corridor. It was bittersweet as our journey was now coming to an end, but I will always remember the incredible times we had and hiking adventures we accomplished. Until next time, South Dakota!
