The primary WHO-recommended methods for malaria vector control are insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs), indoor residual spraying (IRS), and now also Spatial Emanators, all targeting indoor-biting and resting mosquitoes. However, in the Asia-Pacific region, most vectors prefer biting outdoors and result in malaria parasite transmission persisting in the presence of strong vector intervention (mainly ITNs). In this webinar, four leading experts discussed their knowledge about the ecological basis of the outdoor malaria transmission problem and intervention options targeting outdoor biting mosquitoes.
