Immediately following the completion of Electric Eel, Funland would follow by starting the groundwork for their next addition. After the success of prototype Double Drop Falls at Houston Pleasant, Fun Corporation would seek to add an extended version of Premier Rides Liquid Coaster model. The ride would take up some of the plot formerly occupied by Orca Expedition.
The ride would be announced as Storm Surge in April of 2004, and following completion, would have it's track repainted white while keeping the original silver supports. Storm Surge would open to guests in June of 2004, with many families waiting for over an hour for a ride on Funland's new coaster.
