TBI: Suspect dies after being shot by Soddy-Daisy officer during stop at gas station

Описание: The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has shared new details about what led to an officer shooting and killing a suspect at a gas station in Soddy-Daisy early Tuesday morning.

The suspect has been identified as Brandon Hall.

Preliminary information indicates the incident happened just after 1:45 a.m., when the TBI says an officer with the Soddy Daisy Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 8600 Block of Dayton Pike.

The situation escalated, which the TBI says led to the officer shooting at the driver, striking him.

Hall was transported to an area hospital, where the TBI says he died. No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

Nearby resident Stephen Raper says he's concerned what this mean for the safety of his neighborhood.

"I fill up at the gas station all the time. I would hate to think my wife might have been filling up her car there and a shooting was occurring. You know, it could have been very dangerous for anybody."
He also wonders if law enforcement could've handled things differently, saying...

"Could you not have used a taser? Could there have been other options? I don't know. Again, if the police were protecting themselves, they have the right to protect themselves."
The TBI says agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with District Attorney General Coty Wamp for her further review and consideration.
