CHUAR REVOLT - 1769 TO 1805 || CHUAR REBELLION || JHARKHAND UPDATE
The Chuar rebellion was a revolt between 1769 and 1805 by the inhabitants of the forest area of Manbhum, bankura, Singhbhum and Midnapur. This revolt broke out in those area in the leadership of Jagganath Mahato of Singhbhum and led by other leaders in their respective areas.
The East India Company forced the local rular to collect taxes from these people. When they broke out in violent rebellion, they were despised as "Chuars" meaning uncivilized in Bengali and local area.
