Did you know, often called white ants, termites are more closely related to cockroaches. In fact, ants are their enemy.

They are social insects living in nests and raising their young together.

There are over 2,000 known species of termites, and they cause over $4 billion damage every year.

The largest is the Mastotermes darwiniensis, which is found in the top end of this country.

Termites work 24 hours a day.

They never sleep and live up to 25 years. Queens live for 25 years and workers live up to four years. Termites are also a highly nutritious food.
