With Homestead behind us, the world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway is next. A trickier track to master than it looks like. Very easy to hit the brakes too hard in turns 1 and 3 and lock them up, potentially either sliding up out of the groove forcing you to slow down & lose time, or spin out completely and lose a bunch of time. And with turn 1 in particular, between the sun partially blinding you and the shade created by the huge grandstands that line the frontstretch, it's actually quite hard just to see the turn even, making it very easy to either turn in too early & hit the grass or turn in too late and possibly up into the wall. Can't do too much about seeing turn 1 better but as far as the brakes locking up goes, it's kind of like turn 3 at Darlington a few videos ago. You need to check up a bit earlier than you probably think you need to. If you can get it all down though, this setup will get you down into the low 48s. It's crazy fast on the straightaways pulling well over 210 MPH while holding about 165-170 MPH in the turns. To give you an idea of how hard this track can be, my new PB lap of a 48.176, which averages 186.81 MPH, is 5½ tenths faster than my old record, a 48.72. Over half a second & over 2 MPH faster on average. I ran the lap of a lifetime here and I'll probably never do it again. Next up is our first road course at Infineon so stay tuned.
