Baboquivari Peak lies on the Tohono O'odham Nation, southwest of Tucson, and is one of the Arizona 2000 ft. prominence peaks. It is rated by some as a class 5 climb, and it is easily the most technical of the high prominence peaks in Arizona.
I had been emailing back and forth with a peakbagger named Amy, who lives in southeastern Arizona, and we had talked about many different peaks. She had been organizing a hike with guide Matt Nelson to summit Baboquivari, and she invited me to join her. I was accompanied by my brothers Josh and Patrick, and our friend Matt. The four of us have hiked several peaks together. With Matt and Amy also, this was the largest group I have ever hiked a peak with, and we all had an awesome time on this awesome mountain.
