This tachometer is used for dirt bikes without any gauges on, it picks up pulses from spark plug wires
This type of small engines fire twice each turn,
This tachometer can compensate for accurate rpm readings, and counts running hours while picking up pulse.
In the video you can see this generator is over revving at 4000rpm, which can be destructive if being ignored, also the voltage is produced over it’s rated values.
You may check the rpm via voltage output, some capacitor type generator’s’ voltage is determined by rpm(in the video you see), but AVR type generators don’t work with that way, no to mention other engine applications
Some service manuals require people to set up their engines at the right speed, all of these can’t be done without tachometers.
This thing is cheap, buy one to make your engines run properly
