The famous all over Greece pilgrimage of Evaggelistria consists of the chapel, the main church and the church of Evresi (finding). The present church began being constructed after the finding of the icon of Virgin Mary, in 1823, above the first church of Zoodochos Pege. It is said that the icon was found after the appearance of Virgin Mary in the dream of the 70year old nun Pelagia of the monastery of Kechrovouni in 1822. The miraculous capacities attributed to the icon make thousands of worshippers come to Tinos during the 15th of August, even if the church celebrates on the 25th of March.
