It was a sobering week of testimony before the Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee in Cape Town this week as Crime Intelligence Head, Dumisani Khumalo laid bare the extent of the rot more broadly in the criminal justice system but more specifically within the Gauteng province.
Khumalo told lawmakers that police officials deliberately attempted to foil operations on the properties of Katiso “KT” Molefe and Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. And while that took place in 2024, 8 years prior, another campaign to allegedly thwart the appointment of Khomotso Phahlane as the permanent National Police Commissioner took place. Newzroom Afrika’s Zoleka Qodashe attended those proceedings and filed this report.
