Lesson on Pityriasis Rosea. Pityriasis Rosea is an acute, self-limited skin condition that is characterized by a macular skin lesions on the trunk in a particular pattern of distribution. The etiology of Pityriasis rosea is not well understood, but it is thought to be due to a viral infection. The diagnosis is made clinically by the presentation and history, but it is important to do a KOH preparation to rule out another cause of the symptoms. We also discuss treatment of pityriasis rosea as well.
