Gladora Pesse Canoe Latakia Flake 40

Описание: Gladoras Pesse Canoe Latakia Flake 40 comes in a beautiful rectangle tin which looks fantastic on a shelf. As the other Pesse Canoe Flakes, it is not a sealed tin so I recommend transferring it to better storage as soon as you can. The flakes are moist, more so than Flake 20. They break up into more of a ribbon cut, and less like a crumble cake. The tin note is very similar to Flake 20. There is more Latakia present, twice as much to be exact. It smells more smokey and musky, earthier, a bit bolder, a tad less sweet, and with a touch of wood. Much like Flake 20, there is a plumy, boozy top note that has been added with a heavy hand.

The Latakia is mellow, smooth, and creamy with a lot of musk. The smoke notes are strong but much less than expected for 40%. It is woody, but a different woody note than Cyprian Latakia, I believe because they use different woods to smoke the leaf. The Orientals are prevalent but not as forward as the Latakia. They are rich with notes of spice, a touch of sour, and very floral. The Virginias add some brighter tangy notes and some zest, as well as some sweetness that pairs well with the creamy Latakia. There is a strong plum like topping present that last for the entire duration of the smoke. I think the flavor pairs well with the tobaccos but does tone them down a bit. Whether it comes from the wood used to smoke the Latakia, or a topping, there is an aromatic boozy quality as well. I would categorize this blend as an English Aromatic or an English Crossover, but I found it more tobacco forward and not as aromatic as other reviews I have seen. I believe everyone’s experience will differ with this blend.

As mentioned, my tin of Latakia Flake 40 was in the moist side. I didn’t dry mine out, but some smokers may want to depending on their personal preference. It smoked cool, and only got hot when pushed. I consider this blend mostly smooth. It had a slight rough edge, but you shouldn’t get tongue bite as long as you don’t smoke aggressively. I had to relight my pipe a little more than average, but not enough to lose any points in my book.
