RESTORATION LONDON is an independent organisation that encourages sustainable thinking within the clothing industry.
Our focus is on reusing, recycling and upcycling existing garments.
We hold workshops around London where participants meet to mend their favourite items of clothing instead of disposing of them at landfill.
Our workshops aim to introduce ways of mending clothing through various textile methods in order to fix, deconstruct or customise to revive much loved pieces.

To join us for the Sashiko & Boro Patchwork Cushion Cover Workshop you will need the following:
TOOLS AND MATERIALS LIST:
Included with workshop packs
A Pencil sharpener
Ruler (at least 16 cm in length)
Fabric scissors
Snips (for cutting yarn - but not essential)
Pins
Clothing you would like to upcycle or x9 square fabrics (16cmx16cm)
x1 45cmx45cm square piece of fabric for back of cushion
x1 small piece of 8cmx8cm fabric square
* White cotton thread *
* Sashiko needle *
* Sashiko template for Sashiko Uroko design *
* Zip *
* Dressmakers pencil *
N.B. A 10% discount is given to those using their own fabrics (although if you don't have any spare fabrics at home at all, I will send some out in the packs)
**Avoid using slippery materials such as nylons or silks as it will make it tricky to sew - cottons, denims, linens etc are best and also more eco friendly :-) **

00:00 - 02:20 - Introduction
02:20 - 05:17 - Materials
05:17 - 09:14 - Drawing the Boro Grid on to fabric
09:14 - 11:23 - Marking the stitch guidelines on to fabric
11:23 - 12:50 - Threading the needle and tying the knot
12:50 - 19:11 - Stitching the 4 corners of grid horizontally
19:11 - 21:21 - Stitching the final middle square vertically
21:21 - 22:00 - Tying the knot to secure the work
22:00 - 22:05 - Completed Boro Grid
22:05 - 23:00 - Introduction to Sashiko + Boro Patchwork Cushion workshop
23:00 - 23:30 - Close up of Sashiko + Boro Patchwork Cushion
