Out of the Grave series (Part 1, 3 of 10) Originally the Irish folk duo project of the Lynch brothers called Lynched, they became a four piece in 2014 with the addition of multi-instrumentalists Cormac Diarmada and the brilliant Radie Peat (whose vocals you’ll hear here). They became Lankum (after the grisly British traditional murder folk ballad) in 2016 and released this track’s album “False Lankum” last year. One of the best of the year. This particular track is one of several traditional ballads on the album, With this one based off of “The Butcher Boy” (an old American traditional derived from even older British ones).
