At the age of eighteen, he was sent by his father, Mehta Kalu Ji, to conduct a profitable business transaction with twenty rupees. But on the journey, Guru Nanak Ji came across a group of hungry, unclothed hermits living deep in the forest.
Instead of seeking personal profit, he chose compassion over commerce, feeding the hermits, clothing them, and offering every rupee in selfless service (seva). This became what he called the True Bargain.
