Streets are flooded in Angers, Maine-et-Loire department, western France, as the departement remains on red alert for flooding — the highest level — throughout the weekend. In the city of 160,000 inhabitants, the level of the Maine has reached its "peak" at 6.39 metres, mayor Christophe Bechu says on X on Saturday, before "a slight decline". At least 5,000 people have been affected by the flooding, the most significant in Angers since 1995.
