Jabalpur Boat Tragedy: 9 Dead As Cruise Capsizes In Bargi Dam Despite Weather Alert

Описание: A pleasure cruise boat capsized in the Bargi Dam reservoir in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people, including children. The vessel sank after being caught in a sudden storm with strong winds. At the time of the incident, approximately thirty people were on board the boat. A significant lapse has emerged, as the cruise was permitted to remain on the water despite the Meteorological Department issuing a yellow alert for Jabalpur, predicting wind speeds of forty to fifty kilometres per hour. Following the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia payment of two lakh rupees for the families of the deceased. Additionally, the Madhya Pradesh government announced a compensation of four lakh rupees. An investigation is currently underway to determine the administrative lapses that led to the disaster.
