The disappearance of Bibi (NOTE: this is the ORIGINAL Bibi-- read the description, please)

The Bibi I am referring to in the video is the very first Bibi YT star from a channel that I will not name here. This is the 'original' Bibi. Names are often recirculated to promote confusion. Also, since making this video, it has become almost certain that it was not filmed in Indonesia at all, but in Vietnam

My intent with this video was to debunk the claims made by the person filming (my commentary is the white on red text). It was never intended to be about the monkey, but rather about the fallacious claims made by the human handler. Since so many people were attached to this animal, though, that's naturally what gets focused on. I have learned since then that naming the animal is a poor choice.

As for the 'new' Bibi with viewers claiming he is well-cared for: it doesn't matter how well they seem to care for the animal. It is all staged for the camera and the animal is exploited for views. We see exactly and precisely what they want us to see. This animal, and any others you see on YouTube 'pet' channels will almost certainly be dumped or unalived before reaching adulthood- that it simply how this business model operates and the logistics of keeping adult macaques as 'pets' are enormously difficult. Please watch legitimate sanctuaries such as the Vervet Forest if you wish to see 'good' monkey content. Pet channels, regardless of how 'loved' the animal seems, do much to foster the unbelievable abuses of the illegal pet trade

Social media consumption of these videos by western viewers contributes directly to the illegal poaching and abuse of vulnerable and endangered primates for profit.
