I know that the verbal reasoning section of the UCAT is either a loved or a hated section of the exam. For me, I was on the hate side 😅. So, I created this video for all the people that do not like this section and struggle with it (like me!). Here, I share how I prepared for this section as well as how I approach true/false/can't tell (T/F/CT) questions and multiple choice questions (MCQ) questions.

Here is the advice I have for you for VR:
Use the tutorial part of Medify (or any other resource) to learn the theory behind VR. For instance, you need to be familiar with keywords, inferences, correlations, causations and more
Practice, practice and practice even more! I know this is a really basic piece of advice but for the VR section of UCAT this is really the way to improve. Practicing will allow you to familiarise yourself with the question types but it will also let you build and solidify techniques that work for you. Additionally, it will make you more comfortable with the section and your confidence will rise!

On the flip side, not practicing enough (like I did) could prevent you from getting the score you want to get. Indeed, I did not practice VR enough compare to the level I had. I should have given extra attention to this section when I was practicing.

Furthermore, in this video, I walk you through the two different types of verbal reasoning questions and explain to you live how I approach and answer them.

For T/F/CT questions you should:
DON'T read the passage first
Read the prompt first and find keywords
Find the keywords within the passage
Read the lines surrounding that keyword in the passage
Make a decision on the answer

Note:
True = you can find a word/sentence that supports the prompt in the passage
False = you can find a word/sentence that contradicts the prompt in the passage
Can't tell = you cannot find a word/sentence that supports/contradicts the prompt in the passage

For MCQ questions:
Read the passage fully first
Answer the questions
