Domestic Violence: Risk Factors and Interventions Video – Brigham and Women’s Hospital

Описание: Domestic violence is a public health issue that cuts across all socioeconomic and racial boundaries. Statistics show that one in four women and about one in seven men will be assaulted by intimate partner at some time in their lives. Domestic violence is defined as power and control over one person in a relationship by another person. It includes violent behavior, threats, coercive control, verbal abuse, and emotional abuse.

The Passageway program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) works with any patient, employee or community member that has experienced any sort of violence or abuse in their relationship with an intimate partner. Members of the Passageway team use a risk assessment tool to determine whether a patient is at risk of serious or life-threatening harm.

In this video, Marta P. Chadwick, Director, Violence Intervention and Prevention Programs at the BWH Center for Community Health and Health Equity reviews the risk assessment tool used by Passageway and describes how it has been used to successfully help patients in abusive relationships.
