RAYONG — The United States and Thailand officially launched Cobra Gold 2026, Southeast Asia’s largest and longest-running multinational military exercise.
The opening ceremony brought together senior military officials including Matthew McFarlane, Commanding General of U.S. Army I Corps, and Thailand’s Chief of Defence Forces Ukris Boontanondha.
Now in its 45th year, Cobra Gold includes more than 8,000 personnel from 30 countries. This year’s drills emphasize Combined Joint All-Domain Operations, integrating land, sea, air, space, and cyber capabilities.
Officials described the exercise as a demonstration of partnership and commitment to stability and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
