Описание: Building a Blockchain platform from scratch is an extremely difficult challenge. It involves a lot of complexity ranging from implementing low-level network protocols to writing consensus code from the ground up. Substrate significantly simplifies this, providing consensus, networking, a cross-platform DB/file storage abstraction that can even run in-browser, etc., all as part of its framework. Critically Polkadot, a heterogeneous multi-chain interchange and translation architecture that enables customized side-chains to connect with public blockchains is built on top of Substrate. Polkadot has started to receive a lot of attention with the rise of NFTs (Non-fungible Tokens) as digital collectibles. Since Polkadot runs on Substrate, a Blockchain built on Substrate is natively compatible with Polkadot. Dr. Gavin Wood, the co-founder of CTO and Etherium is behind both Substrate and Polkadot.

The talk was delivered by Sudhakar Rayavaram. Sudhakar is currently the VP of Engineering at Tarka Labs, and was previously a Technology Lead Consultant at ThoughtWorks. He is a archetype problem solver with 18 years of experience in software design and development across the stack. He is passionate about sensible user interfaces and loves designing simple and intuitive systems. Data visualizations and cartoons are his answer for effective communication of ideas.
