Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi led his party MPs to hold a day-long fast to register their protest over the washout of the second half of the Budget session of Parliament, BJP chief Amit Shah held the Congress responsible for the deadlock and alleged that the main opposition puts divisive politics above people’s welfare. Modi continued with his day’s work amid the fast while Shah sat on a two-hour dharna at Hubli in Karnataka. In a blog posting, Shah said the people will not forgive Congress for disrupting the second half of the session. Instead of being concerned about the commitment of the House to the people, Congress has acquired expertise in creating hurdles in Parliament. Hence, in place of debates they have taken up the task of creating chaos and disrupting work, BJP president emphasised that the Parliamentary Affairs, Finance and Home Ministers had assured that the House be allowed to function and debates be held on important issues –– from the banking scam, special status to Andhra Pradesh and Cauvery water dispute to the no-confidence motion. Congress put these issues aside and kept harping that the government does not want a debate. “First, they would create commotion outside and then inside the House. Their intention was clear that they came to Parliament to create chaos. Congress has nothing to do with people’s welfare and their intention is to create chaos outside Parliament and do politics of instability and divisiveness.
