Out with the old Seagrave, in with the new KME Engine 283 plus the inaugural run

Описание: We are at quarters of FDNY Engine 283 at 889 Howard Avenue in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, where we see the changing of the guard at the house. In the first scene, we see the old Seagrave Marauder SP03015, as it pulls out of the apparatus bay for the last time, to be brought to the FDNY shops in Queens. After 10 plus years of faithful service, the engine is going to get a second life as a spare rig. In the second scene, we see the replacement: the brand new hulk of a 2015 KME Severe Service 2000 GPM pumper, KP15026. As it's pulling in, we hear the tones go off for the Acting Engine, which was Engine 230 out of Bed-Stuy, which is a fairly long distance from Brownsville. The reason Engine 230 was here was because there was a 10-75 about half a mile away, and it was covering the area while Engine 283 was out of service to pickup the new rig and equip it with all of the stuff that came off the old Seagrave. Engine 230 got a call for a structural at Rockaway Parkway near Avenue A. Engine 230 is a 2003 Seagrave Marauder. Once the new 283 is backed in, we take a walk around it to get a good look at it. The last scene is of the engine getting its first official run. The call was for Box 1638 for a CO alarm in the first floor hallway of a semi-attached 2 apartment dwelling at 148 Rockaway Parkway between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street, which was just around the corner. Ladder 123 got called in as well. It wasn't exactly a worker, but it was the first official run. The first worker was a 10-75, All Hands Brooklyn Box 1630, where Engine 283 was first due. 181 East 92nd Street, fire in a garage at the rear with extension to the house (2.5 sty 25X60) with 4 engines, 2 ladders, Rescue 2, and Squad 252 on the box. At 05:40, Engine 283 gave 10-75. The engine was 1st due. Engines 310, 234, and 227, Rescue 2, Squad 252, as well as Ladders 174 and 123 responded, plus Ladder 120 as the FAST Truck. Battalion 38 and Battalion 44 responded, as well as Division 15. Battalion 38 called All Hands at 05:44. Unfortunately, I was home and sleeping at the time, so I didn't get to see that one. Either way, enjoy the last view of the old Seagrave, and the new views of the new KME as it comes in and goes out on its first official run.
