Neil Harris picked the perfect time to open his account for the season with a second-half brace to clinch victory in a titanic top-of-the-table Den tussle with Leeds United.
Striker Chopper marked his return from a six-week absence with a back injury in perfect fashion as Kenny Jackett's side recovered from going a goal behind to Lucciano Becchio's 30th-minute screamer to make it seven league wins from the last eight starts.
Victory was no more than Millwall deserved in an absorbing match watched by the biggest home crowd since 19th April, when Leeds were again the visitors.
Whites manager Gary McAllister came to The Den able to name an unchanged side, whilst Lions boss Jackett was forced to make a couple of changes to the team that won at Tranmere with Chris Hackett suspended and Tresor Kandol ineligible.
Tony Craig switched to fill in the right-back berth to compensate for Hackett's absence, with Andy Frampton slotting in on the left, and Harris returning for Kandol.
In a frantic first-half it took until the 13th-minute for either side to get a sniff of goal when Dave Martin's great run into the heart of the danger zone was brought to a shuddering halt by a firm challenge from Lubomir Michalik.
Six minutes later Craig's deep delivery from the right was plucked from just under the crossbar by keeper David Lucas as The Lions began to build up a head of steam.
On 20 minutes Martin picked up the ball 20 yards out, and with no obvious option, decided to go it alone and sent a low fizzer that flashed wide of the right post.
Leeds, who had been unusually quiet as an attacking force, then broke the deadlock with their first foray behind Millwall lines.
A quick, slick exchange of passes saw the ball eventually find Becchio, who hit a stunning effort from 25-yards that gave David Forde no chance in the home goal.
But Leeds' lead lasted just seven minutes. Harris threaded a perfect ball through to Martin, who somehow managed to keep his balance despite the attentions of Frazer Richardson, and calmly slotted home the equaliser.
Millwall could have gone in 2-1 ahead at the break, but Zak Whitbread's firm header from a Craig corner flashed a yard wide.
Urged on by the superb vocal support of The Den faithful, Jackett's side maintained their momentum after the break.
Gary Alexander saw his shot-on-the-turn fly over as The Lions sensed that the game was there for the taking.
When Craig's 59th-minute corner was only half-cleared, Marc Laird - who had an immense game in the middle along with Jimmy Abdou - pumped the ball back in and there was Harris to rise above Becchio and send a glancing header home.
Leeds boss McAllister responded by sending on Enoch Showumni and Robert Snodgrass for Andy Hughes and Neil Kilkenny.
Although Leeds provided more of a physical threat at this stage, they were consistently second-best to a Lions side that passed, moved, battled and proved more than a match for the visitors.
A delightful one-two between Lewis Grabban and Harris saw the former's low delivery flash across the face of goal, while Alexander's header from a Martin cross looked to hit a Leeds hand before it was cleared for a corner.
Much of the pre-match talk had been about United hotshot Jermaine Beckford, but he didn't get near goal until 78 minutes, heading wide from an Aidan White cross.
Grabban could have sealed victory for Millwall six minutes from time when he picked up a Harris through ball, only to be denied by keeper Lucas, who blocked his goal-bound effort.
The points were made safe on 87 minutes, however, with a goal made from a combination of Alexander's persistence and Harris' perfect finish. Lucas was caught ball-watching and failed to clear properly under pressure from Alexander. The ball fell for Harris on the right and he somehow managed to find the back of the net from a near imposssible angle.
The three minutes of injury-time were merely a formality, with the home crowd in fine voice - as they had been throughout the match - and the Millwall players continuing their equally fine form too.
