Holy Paladin Guide for Season 2 of The War Within
Word of Glory / Eternal Flame
Word of Glory transforms into Eternal Flame when using the Herald of the Sun hero talents.
Eternal Flame heals slightly less than Word of Glory but applies a 16-second heal-over-time (HoT) effect. 30%
Healing from Eternal Flame is increased by 25% when cast on yourself.
Holy Shock
One of the most frequently used abilities for healing and now deals even better damage after buffs.
Talents to track:
Blessing of An'she: HoT abilities have a chance to boost the next Holy Shock’s healing/damage by 200%. This buff expires over time (20 seconds), so consume it quickly.
Rising Sunlight:
Activated by Divine Toll and Avenging Wrath.
Grants two stacks, making your next Holy Shock cast three times instead of once.
Consider a WeakAura to track Rising Sunlight to ensure you don’t waste stacks (30 seconds).
Crusader Strike reduces Holy Shock’s cooldown, by 2 seconds making melee an important part of your healing rotation.
Divine Toll
One of the strongest healing cooldowns.
Casts Holy Shock on up to five targets.
Healing and targeting mechanics:
If targeting nothing or an enemy: Divine Toll prioritizes enemies first, then allies.
If targeting an ally: Divine Toll prioritizes allies first, then enemies. Consider a Target macro ( #showtooltip /cast [@player] Divine Toll )
Synergies:
Beacon of Light magnifies its healing output across the group.
Grants a stack of Rising Sunlight, amplifying healing throughput significantly.
New Season 2 Tier Set: Works with the 4-set bonus to apply an insurance effect to all struck targets and reduces Divine Toll’s cooldown when spending Holy Power.
Avenging Wrath / Avenging Crusader
Increases healing and critical strike chance by 15%.
Triggers four Dawnlights on allies.
Provides Rising Sunlight, boosting Holy Shock's impact.
Beacon Talents
Beacon of the Lightbringer: Makes Beaconed allies count as your position for Mastery healing.
Light’s Protection: Allies with Beacon take 5% less damage.
Saved by the Light: When a Beaconed ally drops below 50% HP, they receive a large absorb shield (1 min cooldown).
Beacon of Virtue Usage:
Pre-cast before major damage events for added mitigation.
Synergies:
Light’s Protection & Saved by the Light provide extra survivability.
Works best with burst healing spells like Divine Toll and Holy Prism, leveraging the “ping-pong” healing effect.
Holy Light Changes
Healing increased significantly while mana cost reduced.
Talent synergies:
Resplendent Light: Holy Light heals up to 5 additional targets within 12 yards for 8% healing.
Selfless Healer: Increases Holy Light’s effectiveness by 10% and heals you for 10% of its effect.
Divine Favor: After casting Holy Prism:
Holy Light healing increased by 20%.
Cast time reduced by 30%.
Mana cost reduced by 50%.
Important: Divine Favor does not stack—ensure you use Holy Light after Holy Prism every time.
Herald of the Sun & Dawnlights
Dawnlight: A HoT or DoT applied to allies or enemies.
Effects:
Radiates healing/damage to nearby targets.
During Avenging Wrath / Avenging Crusader, you become linked to your Dawnlights:
Linked Dawnlights extend their duration.
Enemies passing through linked Dawnlights take extra damage.
Allies passing through linked Dawnlights receive extra healing.
Avenging Wrath casts four Dawnlights, while Avenging Crusader casts two (due to different cooldowns).
Judgment & Greater Judgment
Judgment deals damage and reduces enemy damage output.
Greater Judgment:
Reduces damage dealt by the target.
Effect boosted by Infusion of Light (+150%).
Makes Judgment a viable Infusion of Light spender.
New Season 2 Tier Set
2-Set Bonus: Healing spells have a chance to apply Insurgence, healing for a large amount over 15s.
If the target drops below 40% HP, a portion of Insurgence is consumed for an instant heal.
4-Set Bonus:
Divine Toll applies Insurgence to all targets it hits.
Divine Toll cooldown reduces each time you spend Holy Power.
