Maryhill Museum of Art and Stonehenge Memorial Monument are two of the top destinations in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. This aerial view of the east Columbia Gorge captures the expansive scenery on the sunny side of the Cascades and gorgeous drives to two of the area's leading visitor attractions flanked with vineyards, orchards, bucolic pastures, and the sparkling Columbia River.
Maryhill Museum of Art, open to the public since 1940, displays art and history from North America, Europe and beyond. Highlights are sculptures by renowned artist Auguste Rodin, contemporary sculpture, Théâtre de la Mode French fashion, Indigenous American art, European and American paintings and contemporary plein air paintings, art glass, pottery, icon paintings, collections from Queen Marie of Romania, and chess sets of the world.
Set on a stunning 5,300-acre site in a chateau-like historic building overlooking the scenic Columbia River Gorge, the museum is open daily from March 15-November 15.
Stonehenge Memorial Monument is the nation's first WWI monument. Dedicated in 1918, this monument of heroism and piece is a full-scale replica of the English Stonehenge. It was commissioned by Sam Hill, an entrepreneur and good roads advocate who built the Maryhill Museum of Art in 1914-17. The monument is open daily year-round from dawn to dusk.
